Trace keeps your data on your device. There is no account, no analytics, and nothing is sold or shared.

Trace (“the app”) is an independent iOS app made by Daniel Morton under the Visualytics name. This policy explains what the app uses and where it goes.
What the app uses
- Location (GPS). Used to show your position on the map, provide navigation, and record your ride — including while the app is in the background during an active ride, so tracking continues with the screen off. Location data is stored on your device.
- Routes and rides. GPX routes you import and rides you record are stored on your device. You can export a ride as a GPX file to share it yourself.
What stays on your device
Trace has no account system and no server of its own. Your location, routes and rides are kept on your device. Trace does not collect this data for itself, does not upload it anywhere, and does not sell or share it with anyone.
Apple Maps and Weather
Trace uses two of Apple's built-in services: MapKit to display maps and WeatherKit to show weather. To do that, your location is sent to Apple so it can return the right map for where you are and the local forecast. That request is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. According to Apple, location used by these services is not associated with your Apple ID and is not used to build a profile of you or for advertising. Trace itself does not receive, store or share this information.
Purchases
Trace offers an optional subscription, TracePro. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. Trace does not receive or store your payment details.
Permissions
Trace asks for location permission so it can show your position, navigate, record your ride, and continue tracking in the background during a ride. You can change or revoke it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Without it, tracking and navigation won't work.
Analytics and tracking
None. Trace contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
Children
Trace is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it.
